Differences Between 2019 Chevrolet Colorado & 2019 Toyota Tacoma
Serving Columbus, OH, Louisville, KY, and Springfield, OH
The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado squares off against the 2019 Toyota Tacoma in the mid-size pickup truck class. Under the hood, this Chevy model has more powerful and responsive components, including a signature diesel engine. Besides having better capabilities in towing and off-road handling, the Colorado boasts more advanced electronic technology in the cockpit.
Capabilities
The 2019 Chevy Colorado is available with a 2.8 L engine block that runs on diesel. Carrying the Duramax label, this turbo powertrain cranks out 369 pound-feet of peak torque. You can also opt for the 3.6 L DOHC V6 gas engine that generates 308 hp and 275 lb-ft. Additionally, this mid-size pickup truck offers an entry-level 2.5 L engine that's rated at 200 hp and 191 lb-ft. You can tow up to 3,500 pounds with this I-4 gas engine. The six-cylinder engine tows up to 7,000 pounds, and the diesel engine has a towing rating of 7,700 pounds. Standard in most of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma models, the Atkinson Cycle V6 engine has a top output of 278 hp and 265 lb-ft. You can't tow more than 6,400 pounds with this naturally aspirated powertrain. Additionally, the Tacoma's entry-level 2.7 L engine has a maximum rating of only 159 hp.
Handling
Having the patented Autotrac design, the 2019 Chevy Colorado's transfer case operates on two different speeds. This robust mechanical component is synced with the Eaton Locker in the rear differential. The AEV skid plates for the transfer case, rear differential and fuel tank are tuned for off-road handling. This versatile Chevy pickup truck also has a front differential that fully locks on demand. You can manually turn on this responsive mechanical part that increases traction on rough terrains. Overall, the 4x4 drive system in the Colorado is more dynamic and robust than the 4x4 drive in the Toyota Tacoma. You can select a six-speed or eight-speed automatic transmission for this durable Chevy truck. The Tow/Haul Mode adjusts the gearbox according to the weight of the trailer. Additionally, the Grade Braking minimizes mechanical stress under the hood. Both vehicles have driving aides for climbing and descending hills.
Digital Technology
The all-new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus is installed in the 2019 Colorado. Featuring an 8-inch HD monitor, this mobile-ready platform is compatible with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A Wi-Fi network with 4G LTE speeds is accessible in the cockpit of this mid-size truck. There's also a wireless charging system for smartphones and other gadgets. Multiple USB ports make it easy to sync other mobile devices in the front row. The Colorado offers a premium audio system with the Bose label. You can listen to your favorite music on the seven speakers that replicate concert-like acoustics. Measuring only 7.0 inches, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma's Entune system isn't ready to compete with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus.
