All trims save for the top-level Premier have a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which provides 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. For this model year, Chevrolet pairs it with a continuous variable transmission. The Premier is fitted with a larger, 2.0-liter I4, which produces 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine is glued to a 9-speed automatic transmission. With stop-start technology coupled with the smaller engine, the non-Premier trims provide the peak fuel economy of the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu: 29 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

Interior and Features

As a midsize sedan, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu provides two rows of seats for up to five people. The front row consists of 6-way manually adjustable seats and the back row consists of a 60/40 split-folding bench-style seat. You can upgrade in trim to get an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar control, heated front and rear seats, a leather steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and a memory system. Safety

Ten airbags—two front impact airbags, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, two knee airbags, and two front and two rear side curtain airbags—provide the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu with restraint and cushioning in the event of a collision. Other standard safety features on the car include an anti-lock braking system, a rearview camera, StabiliTrak for electronic stability control with traction control, daytime running lamps, Teen Driver mode, and a theft-deterrent system.
