Differences Between 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 & 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Serving Columbus, OH, Louisville, KY, and Springfield, OH
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is one of the most well-rounded medium- to heavy-duty trucks on the market, and this model has had a long history of success in terms of owner satisfaction. Built to withstand anything and equipped with plenty of hauling and towing power, the 2018 model is a proven winner. This outgoing model is being replaced with a new version that promises equipment upgrades, a new frame and chassis, and an even longer list of standard features.
The new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a bit longer than the model it replaces, and it's also constructed with lighter materials, the result being better gas mileage. It will be available in a total of eight trims, with a minor reshuffling of the standard features among the versions to provide buyers with more choices when deciding on a cab and bed configuration. Below is a more detailed outline of the two models, with the emphasis on the new features of the 2019 models.
Engine and Powertrain
The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can be purchased with a 4.3L V6 rated at 285 horsepower. This is the standard engine on the base Work Truck, and it's paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Uplevel trims can be fitted with a 5.3L V8 good for 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The LTZ and High Country trims can be equipped with an even more powerful V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The new 2019 Silverado 1500 offers a new engine choice, a Duramax 3.0L inline turbodiesel. The larger V8 will still be available, but on 2019 models, this engine will feature the new cylinder-disabling feature that automatically shuts down multiple cylinders when they aren't needed. Eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard on the uplevel trims.

Trim Options and Standard Features
From the basic Work Truck on up to the LT, LTZ, and High Country trims, there's a 2018 Silverado 1500 to fit everyone's bill. The regular cabs can be purchased with a standard or long bed, and the crew cabs can be fitted to a standard or short bed. All versions can be purchased with two- or all-wheel drive. Standard features on the base trim include air conditioning, cruise control, a rearview camera, vinyl seating, and a split front bench seat. The high-end trims come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, upgraded driver information display, full power accessories, OnStar, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The 2019 Silverado 1500 boasts the same standard features as the outgoing model but adds on LED rear task lighting, a corner step bumper, enhanced climate controls, and a redesigned front seating area with more functional and larger storage compartments.

Capabilities
The figures aren't yet released for towing capabilities of the 2019 Silverado 1500 when fitted with the Duramax diesel engine, but the 6.2L V8 will promise buyers a towing maximum of around 12,500 pounds when the special trailering package is ordered. This is available on the 2018 models as well. The 2019 Silverado 1500 has a slightly larger standard bed volume, and there are three fixed tie-downs welded into each of the four corners of the cargo bed. The High Country has the largest payload capacity at 1,700 pounds, and it also features a tonneau cover that is water-resistant and fully removable.
