Differences Between 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 & 2018 Ford F-150
Serving Columbus, OH, Louisville, KY, and Springfield, OH
Long recognized as a premier medium-to heavy-duty pickup, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers a great combination of ruggedness, stylish appeal, and functional interior design. The 2018 models also come with the latest and best in active and passive safety systems, and the high-tech department hasn't been left behind. Available in a multitude of cab/cargo/trim configurations, the Silverado 1500 can hardly be matched in terms of customization possibilities.
One of the Silverado 1500 chief competitors is the Ford F-150, a pickup with its own long history of success and owner satisfaction. It's also available in a variety of configurations and even offers more engine choices than the Silverado 1500, but upon close inspection, one finds a few weakness that make this model perhaps a bit inferior to the bestselling truck model from Chevrolet.
Capabilities
With the powerful 6.2L V8 under the hood and with the available Max Trailering package, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can tow up to 12,500 pounds. This easily outclasses the max towing capability of the 2018 Ford F-150. Even with the available turbocharged engine, the F-150 strains to tow 10,800 pounds, and that's with the available 3.73 axles. The Silverado 1500 also boasts a larger cargo bed with any of the three available lengths. The Silverado can haul around more than 1,700 pounds in the bed, somewhat more than what the 2018 F-150 can promise.

Comfort and Convenience
One of the greatest metamorphoses of our time is the revamping and upgrading of the Chevrolet Silverado's interior design. Once a classic but rather barren work vehicle, the 2018 Silverado 1500 boasts one of the most spacious, comfortable, and functional cabins of any pickup in any segment. Even the base Work Truck comes with such niceties as power door locks, air conditioning, cruise control, a rearview camera, and a 7-inch screen display. The Chevrolet MyLink interface is also standard on the base trim. Buyers won't pay much more, however, if they choose the fancier LT trim. With the LT, add-ons include adjustable lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and on the crew cab models, front bucket seats. The 2018 Ford F-150 has a very nice cabin design, but the base trim has a very tiny information display. There's also no rearview camera on the base trim, and it isn't even standard on the next level up.

Package Options
Because the base Work Truck is so well-rounded, buyers who choose this version won’t have to spend extra money for standard features that are expected in available packages. However, for those who want to modify and enhance, some of the high-tech goodies are available as stand-alone options on the base model. These include satellite radio, power outlets, and full power accessories. The Enhanced Driver Alert package is available on the LT and LTZ trims, and it's standard on the High Country. This adds on lane departure warning, automatic high-beam control, and forward collision warning. The 2018 Ford F-150 comes with available trailer tow packages and the Pro Trailer Backup Assist system, but these are very expensive, and not all of them are available on the lower trims, so customization on the lower-trim versions of the F-150 is a bit limited.
